Daily Devotional | Take Comfort in Knowing God and His Word Never Change

catsThings change every single day. It is hard to stay up to date with technology as it is constantly changing. Clothing styles change every season. Music, hair styles, décor, and what is healthy are a few more things that have changed over the years.

Trying to stay up to date with all of these things can be costly, but also can cause a bit of insecurity and probably even some frustration.  There is also an element of waste to the constant changes we are forced to make. We all talk about how we live in a throw-away society and a lot of that stems from how things are not made to last…they are made to be changed.

God and His Word never changes. He has had a plan since the beginning of time. This obviously causes security and peace. Can you imagine trying to keep up with a God who is constantly changing the plan?! We are blessed beyond imagination for God being unchangeable.

We have creation that repeats itself daily since the beginning of time. The sun comes up in the morning and it goes down in the evening. We still breath oxygen, drink water, and eat food. There are so many things every day that we take for granted that God has patterned to happen without change. It is simply amazing!

Then obviously, the big one is our salvation. It says in Hebrews 6:16-18 (The Living Bible), “When a man takes an oath, he is calling upon someone greater than himself to force him to do what he has promised, or to punish him if he later refuses to do it; the oath ends all argument about it. God also bound Himself with an oath, so that those He promised to help would be perfectly sure and never need to wonder whether He might change His plans. He has given us both His promise and His oath, two things we can completely count on, for it is impossible for God to tell a lie. Now all those who flee to Him to save them can take new courage when they hear such assurances from God; now they can know without doubt that He will give them the salvation He has promised them.”

Then in Numbers 23:19 (NIV) it says, “God is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?”

Talk about comfort and being eternally grateful for our unchanging God! This is truly something we can rest on, trust and have security in.
