I have been going through the closets, office, laundry room and various storage areas; deep cleaning each one. One thing I have found is there is always stuff that you just are not sure what to do with. I have a table top full of those kinds of things. I came across a box labeled “go through”. It is a box that has been sitting in the storage closet for 9 years when we moved into our current home. It is full of those “I don’t know what to do with” items.
Looking over each item, I found puzzle and game pieces that need to go back into the game boxes, buttons to go in the button box, stickers, tools and screws that need to go back into the garage…you know what I am talking about, right? It takes a lot of time to go through the little things.
Recently, I spoke with a woman who said she was upset with her husband and didn’t know why for sure. As we spoke we discovered that, even though they had been in our group for over 4 years, it was time to go through the little things. They had been working on the larger items in their lives and now had gotten to the stuff that seemed just too small to mention. I encouraged her that God wants each one of us to be 100% Christ-like and if God was laying on her heart something smaller that it would be appropriate for her as her husband’s helper to go through some of the small stuff.
It is so helpful to share with your husband that you have some smaller things to share and that you are afraid that you may be heading back to the place you were before. So many times, we wives talk ourselves out of sharing with our husbands the smaller stuff because we don’t want to discourage him, or even sometimes are afraid that it may explode and we don’t want to “go there” for the smaller things.
