Speak the Truth and Only the Truth by Nancy Nair
Timothy 1:5 “But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”
That verse stands out to me because many years ago I struggled with being truthful. I was always worried that what I might say would come back to me, and I would have to confess my untruthfulness. One day, just that happened. God decided to expose my dishonesty and I had to go back to this person, who happened to be my prayer partner, and ask for forgiveness. I got into my car and I felt God say, “You know that you have to go back and ask for forgiveness?” I fought that feeling, but in order to get peace with God, I had to call her up and share how I had spoken untruth to her. This happened three weeks in a row and after the third (and last) time, I decided what in the world would I want to go through that again for? I learned a very valuable lesson, which I will never forget, to tell the truth at all times, no matter what the cost.
I believe this verse was written to us so that we wouldn’t have to worry; having a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith.
